Malawi Milk Producers Association – Mmpa on its commitment to strengthen artificial insemination (AI) and increase confidence of AI to farmers, it has conducted refresher training for A.I. technicians at Mponela, Dowa district. Total of 17 A.I. Technicians were trained in semen handling, thawing, semen loading, reproductive physiology, insemination, pregnancy diagnosis, heat detection and breeding records. In additional to class training, the A.I. technicians went to the farmers to practice what they have leant from class. Two cows were successfully inseminated while two were identified pregnant during the practical trainings. MMPA is looking forward to continue with such refresher trainings so that artificial insemination success can increase in the central region
